Hybrid Tigers?

Postby LionSE1 » Mon Sep 01, 2008 2:37 pm

I have been doing a project for quite some time now, regarding the Tigers that saw Combat with the German Army. I have set out to produce all the variants of this Model, including the Bergtiger recovery vehicle based on the Tiger P chassis. However the other day I was reading of a unit on the western front that was armed with 6 Hybrid Tigers. Does anyone here know what the author is in about? I would like to attempt to make one! If I can get the Pics or information!

Based on the proven Toyota Prius driveline hybrid, or simply painted GREEN?
In any case the result would be a massive carbon footprint.

I have a vague memory of a tank that was the 'Tiger' hull that was eventually used for the Elefant/Ferdinand with a Tiger I turret. Could that be the 'hybrid' that they mean?

Thanks for that Ricky. I have since looked into this and discovered that the tank did exist, the old turret on the new steel wheel chassis. I have read a little different about it though! I read that the Hybrid Tigers were actually left over from the Sturm Tiger project and so they decided to match them up with six old turrets that were left laying around.

in regards to the Elephant P: I think only one saw combat, and I have seen that Dragon make a Kit of it, so will have to get that to make.

By the way, those who advised on the Zimmerit? Great stuff. I am close to finishing my late tiger from the 505th heavy tank battalion Tiger 312 and have done the zimmerit. Will post pics of it soon!
