P-38 captured!

Postby pampa14 » Sun Sep 20, 2015 11:48 am

I share with you some rare pictures (in color and w/b) of fighters Lockheed P-38 Lightnings captured and with German and Italian markings during World War II. Does anyone know how many were captured and how they came to Europe once they have been used in the Pacific? To view the photos visit the link below:

P-38s were used in Europe by the USAAF - IIRC they were the first allied fighters over Berlin

The roundel in the last photo shows that this is actually a picture of a P-38 serving with the Co-Belligerent Air Force (on the Allied Side) or more likely a post-war shot of one serving with the Aeronautica Militare, as I'm not sure if the P-38 was ever issued to the Co-Belligerent Air Force
