Kind of a catchy tune. Nod to Axis History forum where i found this band.
Corb Lund and the Hurtin' Albertans - Horse soldier

Lyrics:
I'm a hussar, I'm a Hun, I'm a wretched Englishman
Routing Bonaparte at Waterloo
I'm a dragoon on a dun, I'm a Cossack on the run
I'm a horse soldier, timeless, through and through
I'm a horse soldier, eternal, through and through

I's with Custer and the 7th in '76 or '77
Scalped at Little Big Horn by the Sioux
And the tears and devistation of a once proud warrior nation
This I know 'cause I was riding with them too

I drank mare's blood on the run when I rode with the Great Khan
On the frozen Mongol steppe when at his height
I's a White Guard, I's a Red Guard, I's the Tsar's own palace horse guard
When Romanov was murdered in the night

I knew Salah al-Din and rode his swift Arabians
Harassing doomed crusaders on their heavy drafts
And yet I rode the Percheron against the circling Saracen
And once again against myself was cast

I'm a hussar, I'm a Hun, I'm a wretched Englishman
Routing Bonaparte at Waterloo
I'm a dragoon on a dun, I'm a Cossack on the run
I'm a horse soldier, timeless, through and through

Well I've worn the Mounties crimson, if you're silent and you listen
You'll know that it was with them that I stood
When Mayerthorpe, she cried, as her four horsemen died
Gunned down in scarlet, coldest blood

I's the firstest with the mostest when I fought for Bedford Forrest
Suffered General Wilson's Union raid
Mine was not to reason why, mine was but to do and die
At Crimea with the charging light brigade

On hire from Swiss or Sweden, be me Christian, be me heathen
The devil to the sabre I shall put
With a crack flanking maneuver, I'm an uhlan alles uber
Striking terror into regiment of foot

I'm a hussar, I'm a Hun, I'm a wretched Englishman
Routing Bonaparte at Waterloo
I'm a dragoon on a dun, I'm a Cossack on the run
I'm a horse soldier, timeless, through and through

I knew my days were numbered when o'er the trenches lumbered
More modern machinations de la guerre
No match for rapid fire or the steel birds of the sky
With a final rear guard action I retreat
No match for barbered wire or the armoured engines whine
Reluctant I retire and take my leave

Today I ride with special forces on those wily Afghan horses
Dostum's Northern Alliance give their thanks
No matter defeat or victory, in battle it occurs to me
That we may see a swelling in our ranks

I'm a hussar, I'm a Hun, I'm a wretched Englishman
Routing Bonaparte at Waterloo
I'm a dragoon on a dun, I'm a Cossack on the run
I'm a horse soldier, timeless, through and through

I's with the Aussies at Beersheba took the wells so badly needed
And with the Polish lancers charging German tanks
Saw Ross' mount shot down at Washingtown the night we burned the White House down
And cursed the sack of York and sons of Yanks
"I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you"
Genghis Kahn

I am not ordering you to attack, I am ordering you to die. Until we die, we can win the time for the arrival of new troops and commanders.

Just found this guy Alan Stivel who sings in Breizh (native Breton Celtic). Him, Denis Prigent and Nolwenn Leroy are somewhat Breizh and wider France superstars
So I'm feeling Celtic today. A few songs in Breizh
Brian Boru - Alan Stivel (with lyrics and english translation):

Tri Martolod - Nolwenn Leroy & Alan Stivel:

Gortoz A Ran - Danez Prigent & Lisa Gerrard (used in movie "Black hawk down") - music itself has nothing to do with Hans Zimmer:

Gortoz a ran (Denez Prigent & Lisa Gerrard)
I'm waiting
very approximative translation from breton to english !

- Gortozet 'm eus, gortozet pell
I was waiting, waiting for a long time
-skeud teńval tourioů gell
In the dark shadow of grey towers

- E skeud teńval an tourioů glav
In the dark shadow of rain towers
-C'hwi am gwelo ' c'hortoz atav
You will see me waiting forever

- Un deiz a vo ' teuio en-dro
One day it will come back
-Dreist ar morioů, dreist ar maezioů
Over the seas, over the lands

- Dreist ar maezioů, dreist ar morioů
Over the lands, over the seas
-D'am laerezh war an treujoů
To steal me on the trunks

- ' Teuio en-dro karget a fru
It will come back full of spray
-E skeud te4val an tourioů du
In the dark shadow of the black towers

- ' Teuio en-dro an avel c'hlas
Will come back the blue wind
-Da analań va c'halon c'hloaz't
To breathe my wounded heart

- Kaset e vin diouzh e anal
I will be pulled away by its blow
-Pell gant ar red en ur vro all
Far away by its stream to another land

- Kaset e vin diouzh e alan
I will be pulled away by its breath
-Pell gant ar red, hervez 'deus c'hoant
Far away by its stream, wherever it wants

- Hervez 'deus c'hoant pell eus ar bed
Wherever it wants, far away from this world
-Etre ar mor hag ar stered
Between the sea and the stars
"I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you"
Genghis Kahn

I am not ordering you to attack, I am ordering you to die. Until we die, we can win the time for the arrival of new troops and commanders.

if i know correctly "Rose of York":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVhOW8Jz_GA

My name it is Mark Fenner and I am a Yorkshireman;
I earn my living by my pen, tell a stirring tale I can,
But the one I tell you now boys, was writ by foolish men,
When petals fell from a Rose of York, never to bloom again.

2
Come, all you young unmarried men, the boys of the Bulldog breed,
We're looking for the strong and brave, that's what Britannia needs;
We'll fight the Huns in France and drown them in the Seine;
But petals fell from a Rose of York, never to bloom again.

3
Well, we first shipped out to Egypt where the heat was hard to bear;
We were waiting for the call to France, for the Bosche were fighting there;
We talked of what we'd do boys, brother, son and friend;
But petals fell from a Rose of York, never to bloom again.

4
At last we heard the Push was on and we sailed across the Med,
We little thought in two weeks time we'd most of us be dead,
And the girls at home would weep with a grief that's hard to mend;
And petals fell from a Rose of York, never to bloom again.

5
With shouts of joy we led the charge towards the German wire;
The handsome Mason was first to fall as the guns they opened fire;
His face no longer handsome on the barbs he met his end;
And petals fell from a Rose of York, never to bloom again.

6
We had a sergeant major, bold by nature, Bold by name,
But German guns don't pick and choose and Bold died just the same;
And the other gallants followed, the coin of life to spend;
And petals fell from a Rose of York, never to bloom again.

7
Well, we didn't want to lose you, but we thought you ought to go;
Your King and country need you, Lord Kitchener told you so,
But the story I have told you was writ by foolish men;
When petals fell from a Rose of York, never to bloom again

The Road to Moscow by Al Stewart

They crossed over the border, the hour before dawn
Moving in lines through the day
Most of our planes were destroyed on the ground where they lay
Waiting for orders we held in the wood
Word from the front never came
By evening the sound of the gunfire was miles away
Ah, softly we move through the shadows, slip away through the trees
Crossing their lines in the mists in the fields on our hands and on our knees
And all that I ever
Was able to see
The fire in the air glowing red
Silhouetting the smoke on the breeze

All summer they drove us back through the Ukraine
Smolensk and Viasma soon fell
By autumn we stood with our backs to the town of Orel
Closer and closer to Moscow they come
Riding the wind like a bell
General Guderian stands at the crest of the hill
Winter brought with her the rains, oceans of mud filled the roads
Gluing the tracks of their tanks to the ground while the sky filled with snow
And all that I ever
Was able to see
The fire in the air glowing red
Silhouetting the snow on the breeze

In the footsteps of Napoleon the shadow figures stagger through the winter
Falling back before the gates of Moscow, standing in the wings like an avenger
And far away behind their lines the partisans are stirring in the forest
Coming unexpectedly upon their outposts, growing like a promise
You'll never know, you'll never know which way to turn, which way to look you'll never see us
As we're stealing through the blackness of the night
You'll never know, you'll never hear us
And the evening sings in a voice of amber, the dawn is surely coming
The morning roads lead to Stalingrad, and the sky is softly humming

Two broken Tigers on fire in the night
Flicker their souls to the wind
We wait in the lines for the final approach to begin
It's been almost four years that I've carried a gun
At home it will almost be spring
The flames of the Tigers are lighting the road to Berlin
Ah, quickly we move through the ruins that bow to the ground
The old men and children they send out to face us, they can't slow us down
And all that I ever
Was able to see
The eyes of the city are opening
Now it's the end of the dream

I'm coming home, I'm coming home, now you can taste it in the wind, the war is over
And I listen to the clicking of the train-wheels as we roll across the border
And now they ask me of the time that I was caught behind their lines and taken prisoner
"They only held me for a day, a lucky break," I say they turn and listen closer
I'll never know, I'll never know why I was taken from the line and all the others
To board a special train and journey deep into the heart of holy Russia
And it's cold and damp in the transit camp, and the air is still and sullen
And the pale sun of October whispers the snow will soon be coming
And I wonder when I'll be home again and the morning answers "Never"
And the evening sighs, and the steely Russian skies go on forever

Great song. Al Stewart is obviously history buff.
I liked his song "Hanno the navigator" (about Hanno the navigator also known as Hanno II of Carthago)
"I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you"
Genghis Kahn

I am not ordering you to attack, I am ordering you to die. Until we die, we can win the time for the arrival of new troops and commanders.
