Group Build X

Postby Skua » Sun Mar 14, 2010 1:40 pm

The theme for Group Build X will be WWII open topped self propelled artillery, tracked, half-tracked or wheeled. No tanks. start date and further information will follow.

I wanted to include a poll whith the following options, would one of the mods be so kind to come to my aid?

1. WWII open topped self propelled guns and howitzers, tracked, half-tracked or wheeled.

2. WWII open topped self propelled anti-aircraft guns, tracked, half-tracked or wheeled.

3. WWII open topped tank destroyers, tracked, half-tracked or wheeled.

4. All WWII open topped self propelled artillery, tracked, half-tracked or wheeled, regardless of type.

Any WWII tracked, half-tracked or wheeled self propelled gun which is open topped. No StuGs or SU-100, or anything like that in other words.

I'll set the start date as 1st of May, that should be sufficient time for everyone to purchase something of their choice, and the end date as 1st of August since it's summer. That should also give late starters some extra time. I hope PP takes care of the photos and publication of them.

So, are we going with the idea that the tank destroyers (open top turret) of the US & UK are eligible for this build?
Professionals built the Titanic, amatuers built the Ark.

Yes, it was my intention to include self propelled guns with open top turrets as well, I would also include guns mounted on lorries or half-tracks as long as at least the guns are not enclosed completely.

oh, one more question fellas!
it's open top artillery, but does FLAK count as well?
or would that be a different type (purpose)...?

You can still get your hands on the Bedford QL with a 6-pounder, I have seen it boxed both by Italeri and Revell in recent years. And I believe there are one or two truck mounted AA-guns available as kits.

The bedford QL with 6-pounder is 1/35 if I`m not all together wrong. At least the Italeri one. Quite an goldie-oldie as I hear :D
