I found your site by accident. Very impressed with the administrator. I was stationed in Berlin ,Germany with the Berlin Brigade in the 60s. I am retired from Civil Service. I painted tanks and things for the U.S.Marines. I got to ride in what I think was a Patton tank when my Dad was in the National Guard. I have been hooked on tanks ever since! I have had the experience of driving an M1A2 Abrams. I will most probably do a lot of listening before I speak.
Glad to be here
Chuck

Welcome to the forum, Chuck. I, for one, would love to hear more about your experiences in Berlin.

Thanks for the welcome, Christian. It usually takes a couple of beers to get me to remember almost 50 yrs ago. But, the one thing that sticks in my mind is that We,Berlin Brigade were expected to resist the Communist Hoards for 7 days before we would be relieved. Big Joke, my room was about a quarter of a mile from an East German mortar emplacement! Maybe 7 seconds! That is what we lived with and played with. Best Education of my life. Don't where I should have placed this so just point me in the right direction. Pardon my English ,I am a South Georgia Redneck.LOL

He he, that does sound a bit optimistic. But at least you'd be better off than those armed with Davy Crockets, I guess. I never really understood the point in a tactical nuclear launcher, which has a shorter range, than the intended blast radius :)

Hi everyone.

I'm Darren or Daz to everyone.

Hi Christian.

Sorry for the late reply. I have an interest in Tiger Tanks and German semi-tracks.

Greetings all.

My name is Mark. I was born and raised in California, and live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am a longtime student of military history. Been fascinated by tanks since I saw the premier of The Battle of the Bulge as a young boy at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood in the mid-1960s.

I participate in several tank-related fora. I do a fair bit of research, and some writing, on WW2 armor (and other historical topics, including early California history). My current top areas of interest are France in WW2, Romania in WW2, Italy in WW2, and the campaigns in French North African (Operation Torch and Tunisia). I also have long-running interests in Soviet armor, and US Tank Destroyers (my father was in the tank destroyers in WW2). So yeah, I have pretty broad interests. But then I've been at it for a while.

I go by Mk 1, Mark-1, Mark1, or even occasionally Mark 2 in various fora, depending on what names are available.

Hello Members,
my name is George, i'm from Germany precisely from the Ruhr Area. I pardon if my English is a little coarse. It is said that i am an expert für german Tanks (what else?) and i know many military museums in West-Europe. Also i'm a member of the german fighter organization (Luftwaffe). My collection of military pictures are very extensive. I hope that I can complete your homepage. Ok, that should be enough for the beginning.
